Burning bush is dying

Asked July 1, 2018, 10:59 AM EDT

We cut our burning bushes back this past year. They have always been healthy other then treatment for Japanese beetles with seven dust. They seem to be dying from the inside out. Didn’t notice any spots on the leaves but they are curling up and dying.

What I'm seeing from the photos are reddish tips and curling of the older leaves (lower on the stem) but newer leaves (higher on the stem) seem unaffected. This does not appear to be a disease. It could possibly indicate herbicide injury or some physical damage to the shrub. Contact the Christian County Extension office at 270-886-6328 and I'll come take a closer look and submit samples to our lab if necessary.
