Field Bindweed problem

Asked June 24, 2018, 10:09 PM EDT

I have a proliferation of field bind weed in my perennial bed. Pulling them is only a very temporary solution. I've learned not to leave any pieces of the plant on soil. Any ideas for controlling them?

Bindweed is very difficult to manage. There is no magic bullet. Read here:

Usually a mix of a non-selective herbicide such as glyphosate (Roundup) and a broadleaf herbicide such as 2,4-D is necessary and several applications are required. Tilling is troublesome because the plant establishes through rhizomes.
