Insect identity: an assassin type, or what?

Asked June 19, 2018, 4:02 PM EDT

I spotted this little critter this morning (6/19/18) on my porch railing. For an idea of his size: the railing is an inch wide; the cord is for a pull-up shade and is about a 1/4" thick. When he was uncomfortable about my presence, he arched his middle downward so the back area tilted upward; his antennae moved about, especially on the angled ends. He didn't move quickly or seem to want to get away from me. Rather he seemed intent on slowly moving along. Will appreciate an ID of this interesting guy.

Yes, this is a nymph of one of the assassin bugs. There are several species whose nymphs look virtually identical at this stage.
