I am curious about the current rental rate/acre to grow Hay in Belmont county. I am purchasing a parcel that is currently in Hay production that I am considering returning to timerland/timber production. Approximately 10 acres in Washington twp. Belmont county.

Belmont County Ohio land rental

There could be quite a range $30-$90 per acre depending on the quality of the hay, the soil and production capability. Average hay production should be about 3 ton per acre in Belmont County. I heard of several arrangements where the landowner gets 1/3 and the producer gets 2/3's of the hay (producer does all the fertilizing). One ton of mixed grass hay would be worth $50-$60
