What is eating my Sweet Potatoe Vines

Asked June 14, 2018, 11:12 AM EDT

I have them in flower boxes in the front of my house and planters in the rear on a deck. Only front vines are being eaten at this time. On inspection there are no visible pests. Any ideas on how I can prevent whatever this is from destroying my plants?

We think this is the likely damage of the Tortoise beetle.
They are not of great concern and their damage is not great.
Here is our page where they are listed: http://extension.umd.edu/hgic/leaf-feeding-beetles-flowers

Their young larval stage also has an interesting ability: https://extension.umaine.edu/home-and-garden-ipm/common-name-listing/tortoise-beetles/
