Fruit tree problem identification

Good morning. I'm having trouble identifying what's happening to my apples and plums. The marks look the same, but I can't find a culprit that would be the same for the 2 different kinds of fruit. In the picture, the Apple on the left is a Honeycrisp, and on the right is a wild plum. The trees otherwise look healthy. Thank you.

It is somewhat early for apple maggots to begin laying eggs, but there are other possibilities, including plum curculio. Read here:
