Has large white trumpet shaped flowers that open at dusk , and has round spiked seed pods that grow on it.

Hi. It sounds like you are talking about an Angel’s trumpet plant (Datura spp.). The other possible contender is moon flower (Ipomoea alba), but at least some Angel’s trumpets have what I would described as spiky seed pods. Here is a very nice article on Angel’s trumpet (Brugmansia spp.) from the U. of Wisconsin Extension that includes a variety of images of cultivated plants. As noted there, Angel’s trumpets include two genera, Brugmansia and Datura, the latter of which includes many weedy species. Brugmansia seem to have smooth seed pods, whereas Datura have spiky ones (see this page, courtesy of Texas Master Gardeners). Therefore, that is probably the plant you are referring to. A more specific identification is not possible without photos and additional information. This page from the U. of Illinois provides some additional information about Datura, Brugmansia, and other night-blooming flowers, so I also suggest you give that a read.
