Spraying apples

Asked June 4, 2018, 9:31 PM EDT

Hello I've grown up on a family farm and we have 6 apple trees of different varieties. However we always get sooty blotch and flyspeck and sometimes worms. I'm wondering can you recommend a good organic Fungicide and insecticide that I can apply to combat this? Thanks!

Sooty blotch and flyspeck do not damage the flesh itself so no control measures are recommended. You can try to prune the trees to help with air circulation so that the tree and fruit dry more quickly after rain. Sticky traps or bagging apples are a possibility to combat apple maggots. Here is a link to info about pest management in the home apple orchard. You can read about each pest and control measures. https://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/fruit/apple-pest-management/
