red cedar tree
Our small tree has developed alot of brown on the "leaves". There is still new groth that is green. Any thoughts?
Many factors can come into play to cause browning leaves on red cedar in Southeast Alaska. In the home landscape, good planting, location and maintenance take a major role on tree success, as do micro-climates (ie exposure to winter winds, etc.) As well, the disease Cedar Leaf Blight is very common in Southeast Alaska. A write up on it can be found on page 130 in this USDA publication (https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5315942.pdf) See if this looks like what you are talking about.
