Rain deluge recovery

Asked June 4, 2018, 9:36 AM EDT

Should I assume, in the absence of a soil test right now, that the ridiculous amount of rain that we received this past month makes it advisable to add lime to my veggie garden? The rains have done a number on my plantings (teeny weeny pea vines, for example) and I would like to be able to get some kind of successful harvest this year.

No, it would not be necessary to add lime to your soil now because of the recent rains. Lime should only be added to adjust soil pH if a soil test indicates it is necessary. Read our information about soil testing. A list of regional soil testing labs is provided on this page.
