Hollyhock disease or critter?

Hello, Attached are photos of our seven foot tall Hollyhock. There is something that's attacking it from the bottom and it's reaching the top. We could not find any insects or critters attached to the plant. Please help

This is a common problem which makes Hollyhock growing in our area difficult.
It is a disease called rust. This wet year makes all diseases worse.

Unfortunately, unless you are willing to spray fungicides regularly (this is not curative, just stops it from getting worse) they will continue declining. We generally don't recommend treatment for this reason.
