Hi, I'm growing a hardy gardenia in a pot. I'm not sure what, if any, amendments to provide it and when. Thanks! Leora

Commercial potting mixes are specially formulated for growing plants. The mixtures are quite coarse so that they will drain well within the limited confines of a container. You do not need to add anything to the mix.

Well, almost nothing.

After the plant is potted and starts to grow, use a fertilizer formulated for outdoor containers, the amount and frequency according to label directions.
