We have an issue with carpenter bees burrowing into the wood trim on our house. Our current plan is to replace the wood with composite materials. What is the best time of year to do this? The bees are currently active. Should we wait until they go inactive or do it now?

The above two websites will provide some good information on the life-cycle of the carpenter bee. They are emerging now from their winter nests and this is probably a good time to consider your renovation. If the channels are uncovered, a spray with a bee insecticide should be effective in controlling them for your construction. The use of non-wood materials will prevent them from re-entering the area.
