They dug here my magnolia tree to replace a sewer line now the leaves are turning brown and falling off

Unfortunately this is one of the hardest trees to grow here and we really don't recommend them.
So this puts even more unneeded stress on them, especially going into the heat of summer.
The leave to root ratio is out of balance.
The only thing you can do now is see what happens and possibly remove any dead leaves or branches in the near future.
Watch your watering and possibly mulch a little bit more.
Do not hesitate to get a Consulting Arborist out there to do a complete site visit. Possibly Bartlett Tree Experts or someone from the San Antonio Arborist Association.
