Black mold/fungus on Tiger Eyes sumac?
Hello- I'm hoping someone can help me identify what is going on with my Tiger Eyes sumac. Last fall, the leaves just wilted and it had some black spots on the branches near the ends. The black spots have grown and while some of the branches are leafing out, others are pretty bare. I talked to someone at Bachman's and they recommended a fungal spray. I'm hoping that takes care of it but want to see if there is anything else I can do or if I should remove the whole thing so it doesn't spread to other plants. Thank you- Jen

It looks a lot like Verticillium wilt. Please go to this web page and see if it compares. http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/diagnose/plant/deciduous/sumac/leaveswilted.html The black could be sooty mold: http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/trees-shrubs/sooty-mold/
