Hobo Spider Identification
Asked May 10, 2018, 11:39 AM EDT
I want to know if the many spiders in home are hobo spiders. How can I identify please?
Marion County Oregon
It's true that hobo spiders live here in the northwest. But, in spite of commonly held beliefs, they are rarely, if ever, the cause of problems.
The best way to have a spider identified is to take a sample to the Marion county Extension office, 1320 Capital St, NE, Suite 110; Salem, Oregon 97301.
It is eeasy to capture a spider or other small creature if you follow the directions in this video posted by the University of California: https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+capture+a+spider&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1-ab The "tools" you need are a wide-mouth jar (or glass) and a stiff piece of paper, such as an index card.
