fig tree with no leaves in Wheaton

Asked May 7, 2018, 11:00 AM EDT

Hi, I've had a fig tree in a large pot for three years that I just put in the ground this spring but it looks like it might be dead. There is some green tint under the bark of the larger stems but the smaller branches do not. Should it have leaves by now? Thank you

Everything is late this year, so we would wait and see.
However, we are hearing that figs in some areas had winter injury and dieback to the ground. Figs planted in the ground can often come back from their root system, but won't produce fruit for a year or two.
We are not sure what your results will be.

Time will tell.
