Aphids: treat soil?

Asked May 6, 2018, 3:05 PM EDT

Hi, I removed few brussel sprout plants that had overwintered and found them fulll of aphids. Should I treat the soil before planting anything else? I’m planning to sow amaranth seeds. Thanks!

No, we do not recommend any soil treatments to control aphids. There are many natural enemies of aphids that will help to control them naturally as the weather warms up. If you do see a low infestation of aphids develop on other plants, you can manage them with a strong spray of water or an application of insecticidal soap.
