Wetland plants with deep roots

Asked April 29, 2018, 8:30 AM EDT

I live by a pond and would like to plant a short height plant (so it doesn't block view) with deep roots that can reduce erosion. The soil is peat and very wet. If the plant tolerates cutting shorter or mowing (grasses) that would also be considered. I'm looking for something that has a height less than 1 foot if possible. What would you suggest? Thanks, Vonnie

I am giving you a link to a fine publication we have on this very project. You will find a listing for plants for wet sites plus other helpful hints. http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/landscaping/native-plants-for-sustainable-landscapes...
