Is avocado tree cold hardy and suitable to be planted outside in MD zone 6b?

Asked April 23, 2018, 11:55 AM EDT

We planted an avocado seed from a grocery store bought avocado in a pot probably last summer, it sprouted and has been sitting in the conditioned basement area, I am considering to plant out in the earth bed, I would like to know if it is cold hardy? Internet says some are cold hardy and some not. I have attached the picture hoping you could determine the variety and provide an advise. Thanks.

You could put it outside for the summer in a container or in the ground, but you would need to bring it in as a houseplant in the fall. They are not winter hardy here.
