apricot trees

Asked April 18, 2018, 6:45 PM EDT

I have lots of apricots on my trees but they stay little hard green balls? Is this a disease or do I need to prune heavier or what. I haven't sprayed my trees at all with anything. Could this by the problem?

It sounds to me like you have a bit to short of a growing season for them to ripen. The trees are blooming late enough to get pollinated and the fruit sets but it just does not have time to ripen on the tree.

The fruit can be slow to ripen if the tree is under some sort of stress or if the tree is not getting adequate sunlight for the fruit to ripen.

If you can pick it and bring it indoors it will ripen on the counter or it can be sped up by placing fruit in a paper bag and you can even add an apple or a banana to add additional ethylene gas to speed up the process more.
