Boxwood Blight in Potomac?

Asked April 16, 2018, 12:15 PM EDT

Hello. I'm doing a spring clean up on a house in Potomac and I noticed that the leaves on the boxwood had a sort of red tinge to them. Is this boxwood blight?

No, this does not look like boxwood blight. It looks like winter damage (cold injury). https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/boxwood-culture-and-diseases-including-boxwood-blight. With boxwood blight, the leaves would have lesions with a dark border. Another symptom is black cankers (black streaks) that develop on the green stems. This page shows the symptoms that would indicate boxwood blight: http://extension.umd.edu/sites/extension.umd.edu/files/_docs/programs/ipmnet/Boxwood%20Blight-UnivOf...
