Can I plant potted, blooming tulips in my yard now?

Asked April 14, 2018, 4:25 PM EDT

Apr 14, 2018...I was given them as a gift. Can I plant now, or do I need to wait till they're dried in the fall, or??? Thanks.

Most times, bulbs that were forced in a greenhouse will not bloom again in the landscape. But you can try. I would plant them outdoors once the foliage has withered and browned. This may be another few weeks. If you put them outside now, it may shock the foliage, since it's used to indoor conditions.

Water well during the summer. If the plant has enough resources, it may bloom! It could also take a couple of years to regenerate enough food.
