Protecting Bluebirds - pls refer to some ornithologists if you don't cover birds
Should one destroy the nest of an English sparrow who just usurped our bluebird box. We have had successful bluebirds in that box 3 or 4 years running, but now the sparrows have moved in. Should one actually kill those sparrows? Don't like that idea and would not know how to do it...but hate losing the bluebirds. Saw two female bluebirds on a nearby limb--both with brood patches!!?

Thank you for your concern about the bluebirds! We do not have ornithologists on staff here. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is an excellent resource and we recommend that you turn to them regarding your question. http://www.birds.cornell.edu/Page.aspx?pid=1478
