Cocoons in Shed - what kind?

Asked April 8, 2018, 4:46 PM EDT

Hi, we have a bunch of these cocoons in our shed. If they are something helpful, we'll leave them be, but if they are something harmful or dangerous we'd like to remove them. Could you please help us identify these? I imagine they are some kind of moth, but I am not sure. Each cocoon is about an inch long and looks silky/fibrous. Thank you for your time.

We cannot say for sure what type of insect is in the cocoon. It may be a type of moth. Scrape off and toss outside.
