kill termites not bees

Asked April 4, 2018, 9:09 AM EDT

Our shed is infested with termites. We have a rather large garden and other plants around our acre that attract bees. I want to get rid of the termites without harming bees. What's the best way to go about doing this?

Here are some options. If you have an active infestation, you should call several professional pest control companies for an inspection and a treatment plan. This knowledge can help in in making structural or landscape modifications that will prevent a reinfestation. You can call the National Pesticide Information Center regarding toxicity http://npic.orst.edu/

The most important preventive measures you can take to make your home/shed inhospitable to termites are eliminating any direct contact between wood and soil and reducing moisture in and around the house.

Another option is to rebuild or replace the shed. It may be cheaper to replace and put on a concrete slab or purchase a shed made of plastic with reinforced walls and roofs.
