Please help my garden! We have been overrun by small white butterfly looking bugs that leave a powdery white mildew. Once Spring begins, each year, these tiny white flying bugs appear on my flowers and boxwoods and they are eating everything! It has almost become so difficult to garden that I was thinking of giving up gardening after a lifetime of just loving it!!! Please help!!!!

Your insect description suggest boxwood psyllids http://extension.umd.edu/sites/extension.umd.edu/files/_images/programs/hgic/Publications/HG102-Rev-...
and similar insects such as leaf hoppers and plant hoppers that leave a white residuehttp://extension.umd.edu/hgic/planthoppers-flowers

However, these plants do not "eat" up gardens. We suspect that something else is going on. Either you have pests that hide during the day and eat at night, or they may be well camouflaged.

It would be very helpful it you could take photos of the plant damage this growing season, as well as any suspects, and attach them to a reply to this email. You can only attach 3 photos per email, but you are welcome to send as many emails as you like.
