A New Weed

Asked April 1, 2018, 6:41 PM EDT

This plant is growing around and in a new bed that I dug last year. It grows quite well and the deer don’t like it. I might as well know its name. Thanks

This looks like Hairy bittercress, which is a winter annual.
It pulls easily. Remove what you can or you will have a lot more of it later. It eventually forms seed pods which dry and explode and throw seed all over, which will germinate and start growing in late fall.

Here is our page on it. http://extension.umd.edu/hgic/hairy-bittercress
