Cooking at High Altitudes

Asked March 29, 2018, 9:11 PM EDT

I live in Prescott AZ, elevation 5300 ft. I have always lived near or around sea level all my life and since we’ve moved, I am having the hardest time learning how to cook & bake. I recently bought a new stove and the manual suggested I should contact the Colorado State University extension service as a source that might provide me with a guideline on how to cook & bake foods at high altitude. Is there something you can email that might be of help? Please let me know I f I need to pay for the information,

Dear Client,

Thanks for contacting eXtension. I would encourage you to stop by the Yavapai County office of the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension. We are at 840 Rodeo Dr #C, Prescott, AZ. Here is a link to our website: https://extension.arizona.edu/yavapai. Our office hours are M-F 9 am to noon and 1 to 4 pm. We also have a Family Consumer Health Sciences Agent here (I am an Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent). Her name is Hope Wilson. She would also be able to answer your questions. For this weekend, I have included a link to some Colorado State University information you may find helpful:
