blue berry mulch

Asked March 28, 2018, 2:40 PM EDT

I was told to mulch my blue berries with douglas fir or alder saw dust. I can find neither. Hog fuel and various barks are available for sale . What are some suitable and available substitutes ?

First of all you do not need to mulch. If you do mulch, the blueberries grower better and it helps conserve soil moisture during our dry summers. There are a wide variety of mulches you can use from sawdust, bark or plastics. Sounds like you can get some bark mulch and that will do just fine. Usually a little more expensive but it will do fine. Have a look at this publication:
