Planting a native fringetree in Reisterstown

Asked March 24, 2018, 8:23 PM EDT

Hi there, I would really like to plant a fringetree for my parents in their yard. I think that they are such lovely little trees, but I have been reading that they are a potential host to the emerald ash borer. I had no idea! I'm still seeing the tree on lists of recommended natives in Maryland and wondering if it's still a good idea to plant it. How are you advising people as far as making the choice to plant this tree?

The connection between fringetree and emerald ash borer has not been proven or replicated, so you can feel very comfortable planting this fantastic native. Enjoy!
