trumpet honeysuckle vine

Asked March 22, 2018, 8:41 PM EDT

I have a custom made trellis, built with very large support posts cemented into the ground. I was told that the Trumpet Honeysuckle vine might grow to heavy and bring down the trellis. Is this valid concern, or can it be trimmed back yearly to a more manageable weight? It is a solid, well built trellis.

I like it since it seems hardy, it's pretty and it is a xeriscape type plant.

Thank you for your time.

Trumpet vine can get very heavy and it is a valid concern but it can be pruned back as you said, annually to limit the weight.
