Sticky strings of pearls

Asked March 21, 2018, 9:09 AM EDT

My string of pearls plant seems healthy and growing. I’ve had it approximately three years. They are very sticky to the touch as if covered with sugar water and left to dry. I do not find bugs anywhere. Is this normal?

usually this is a sign of mealy bugs or aphids either on the plant or on a plant above the plant. Mealy bugs and aphids suck so much sugar from plants, the insects exude sugar which drips on other plants or surfaces.

Check the plants around the string of pearls for mealy bugs and aphids.
