Leyland - Late Winter Planting

Can you plant arborvitae and leyland cypress now in Carroll County? If not - when would be a good time to plant in our area? Thank you!

The best time to plant woody ornamentals is late winter thru mid spring and early through mid-fall. Be sure to keep all newly planted trees and shrubs well watered throughout the first year, all the way up to the ground freezes. Take a look at our website on planting trees and shrubs https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/trees-and-shrubs/planting-process
