Camellia Looking Mangy

Asked March 8, 2018, 4:46 PM EST

I have an old Camellia, taller than a telephone pole. One of four that are about five feet apart from each other. The other three are thriving. This one has lots of branches with no leaves, and many of its leaves are yellow. It looks sick. What's wrong and what should I do about it?.

Thank you for your question about your camelia. Shrub and leaf problems are best diagnosed with a photo available, but without that, I’m afraid I can only directvyou to an article addressed to a variety of potential causes here: http://homeguides.sfgate.com/causes-yellowing-leaves-camellias-45976.html If you’d like to send a picture of the whole plant, plus some up close ones of the leaves, I can explore further. As the article says, if it is a nutrient issue, the soil pH is important, and having a soil test would give you more information. Hope this is a start. Good luck!
