Native Winterberry Pollinator

Asked March 8, 2018, 10:55 AM EST

Hello, I am interested in planting the native Ilex verticillata in my yard. I realize it is much taller but are there other reasons it wouldn't be a good idea - I have plenty of room. Which pollinator would I need to plant to be guaranteed I get berries? Thanks very much.

The native winterberry, IIlex verticillata, is a beautiful plant worth having. We are happy to hear that you can plan for it's mature size.
Wherever you source your winterberry should be able to provide you with good pollinator information/plants.
This list, from U. of Conn. shows cultivars available at nurseries and the blooming time of the best pollinator partners.
