PECAN TREE TRUNK PAINTING

Asked March 2, 2018, 11:06 AM EST

A lot of older folks tell me to paint my pecan tree trunk to prevent worms from coming out of the ground and laying larva in the pecans. Is this true? If so, what kind of paint would I need to use and how much of the tree trunk do I need to paint.

I don't know if painting will help on the insects boring in or not. Paint is used in pecan orchards to help prevent herbicides from killing young trees.
