Tree disposal

Asked February 22, 2018, 4:58 PM EST

We are cutting an oak tree we believe was killed by the two lined chestnut borer. Does the borer live through the winter? Can the wood be saved for burning, chipped for mulch, or should it be disposed of at diseased tree waste site? Thanks.

This publication from the DNR will answer your questions. If you want to save it for firewood, it cannot be left uncovered. Please read through the information given in this publication and then make your decision. http://dnr.state.mn.us/treecare/forest_health/tlcb/management.html
