What is the best variety of tomato for a container garden?

I’m new to gardening and wanted to grow a tomato plant this summer.

There is no one tomato that is best. Your choice will depend upon your situation.
There are compact 'determinate' varieties that will grow in most containers. If you have a large container (5 gallon or more), you could even grow an 'indeterminate' tomato. You'd need a trellis, too, probably.

Most seed catalogs will give good descriptions of what to expect from each variety, whether it would be good for a container, compact growth, etc. Look for good disease resistance!
