Knotted or Diseased Crape Myrtle?

Asked February 13, 2018, 6:59 AM EST

Our Crape Myrtle has this growth in the middle of it's two major limbs about 3 feet up from the base. What causes it and is there anything we can do about it? Thank you.

We notice some undifferentiated bark tissue which is tissue and bark combined. It is a type of burl. There is nothing that you need to do. Here is some information on burls
