Wet or dry conditions

Does corn grow better in fairly dry climates or wetter climates?

Hi, iIf you are growing corn in well-draining soil, you will get your best yield if the plants are given ample water. In well-draining soil it will be difficult to overwater the plants as gravity will keep excess water from pooling around the root system.

In poor draining soil, too much water could kill the root system of corn plants.
