Too soon to Prune Fruit trees?
I have a small orchard of mostly dwarf pear, plum, peach, nectarine, apple. I'm wondering if it is too soon(1/22/18) to prune these trees given that we haven't had a significant frost/freeze yet? I usually prune around this time but am hesitant. The new buds are getting ready to pop it seems with our current weather. Thanks, Andy
Pruning fruit trees can be done from leaf fall; usually around November 1st until pre- pink or around March 15. Any time the trees are dormant or leaves fall, they can be pruned safely.
Depending on the year, prune BEFORE bloom.
