Just moved into home closed for 1 1/2 years . Has well water, everything is...
Hi, and welcome to your new home! A couple of things you can do:
Confirm that the pump, pressure tank, and general plumbing are intact by visual inspection and(or) by bringing in a plumbing contractor to ensure safety and integrity.
If the pump and tank are safe to use, flush the system by running water until the water is clear and cold.
Contact the local county health lab and ask them for instructions to send a water sample for potability (safe for drinking). Stark County has a list of private well contractors and also resources to help you if you should need to disinfect your system because of presence of bacteria. http://www.starkcountyohio.gov/public-health/environmental-health/drinking-water
A list of certified labs to do your potability test is available online at http://www.epa.state.oh.us/ddagw/labcert/tabid/5806/LiveAccId/114110/Default.aspx
Thank you for your valuable advise and for responding so timely.
