What is the best way to rid your property of Voles and other burrowing pests? We have 35 acres in Peyton and have large areas of our field where there is a lot of burrowing going on.in various places so don't want to use something that just moves them over a few feet. We need something that either kills them or makes them move over 1000' feet to get off our property.

Thank you for your question. Below are links to information about voles and gophers. I live in the Black Forest and have had issues with voles and gophers for approximately three years. Our property is much smaller than yours - 6 acres. So, it was fairly easy to control the voles - we got a cat. Within a few weeks the damage to landscape plantings stopped. I realize a cat is not for everyone, but wanted you to know how successful I have been using this method. The gophers are another issue. We use traps and trapped 45 gophers this summer (yes, I counted). However, they still remain and are all over the property. Eradicating in one area does not guarantee they will not return to that area. We do not use poison because we have pets. You may wish to consider using more than one method for management of these critters.
Best of luck with this project. I believe that routine management will help to control the population.
