Mystery Plant

Asked December 7, 2017, 3:17 PM EST

Hello These small green plants filled an outdoor pot this summer but never bloomed. It is in partial shade under a small fir. I may have planted something in it but I can't remember what! Do any of you have an idea of what it might be? Thank you. Baltimore City

The plant with the "spoon" shaped leaves in the lower left of the photo, looks like coreopsis.

The other plants with the reddish tinge at the base could be cardinal flower (lobelia cardinalis), a native flower.

You can let them flower next summer and send us photos. We will be able to give you a definite id then.
