Bulbs in raised boxes

Is it okay to plant bulbs in raised boxes? We are trying to thwart squirrels from digging up our garlic.

Any bulb that has to be in the ground over the winter, garlic is one of them, would freeze out in a raised bed. You can thwart the squirrels by enclosing your bulbs in a basket of chicken wire and plant your bulbs that way. Or you can try laying down chicken wire on the surface and securing it with landscape/sod pins or something similar. Your plant will grow through it.
