Interstate Hwy Shrubs and Bushes

Asked October 27, 2017, 6:13 PM EDT

What kind of shrubs are planted along I-90 in Southern MN that are blazing fall colors of gold, red, orange? I have seen them along farmers fields as well and would like to plant some as a windbreak around our farm...and where can I buy them

Winona County Minnesota plant identification amur maple

We can't identify the shrubs without seeing them or sharp photos. However, based on your description we think they might be Amur maple. Although Amur maple is now considered invasive, it has been widely planted in the way you have described.
