Cranberry sauce

Asked October 25, 2017, 11:16 PM EDT

When I make my cranberry sauce to can, is possible to use part brown sugar and part white sugar? I am going to use this ball recipe. http://www.freshpreserving.com/cranberry-sauce-recipe-%7C-homemade-cranberry-sauce---ball-recipes-br... Is there a ratio of brown to white sugar I can use? Or is brown sugar unsafe for canning? Thank you for your time and help! Rachel

It would not be a safety issue to substitute brown sugar for white sugar in this recipe, however the end product will be much darker and probably have a molasses flavor. I would try it and see if you like it.
