Fungus on crape myrtle?

Asked October 25, 2017, 9:58 PM EDT

While composting a crape myrtle I planted in July, I notice a sappy white color on some of the leaves. I have attached a couple pictures. It seems healthy enough, but it can't be normal for this to appear - or can it? Thanks.

This looks like powdery mildew. Many crapemyrtle are susceptible to it, so under the right conditions it shows up.
