Plant ID

Asked October 24, 2017, 9:36 AM EDT

I volunteer in Allen Co Indiana with the Master Gardener program. We have a diagnostic team that home owners can bring samples and problems to. I was recently visiting Lockport KY with some friends and they gave me a plant to ID. It was found on their property in a old grazing field. I'm struggling to ID it and was wondering if you guys could help. It's 12"-15" tall, and they said when they first picked it, it smelled like Vernors ginger ale. I know not much to go on. I wasn't sure if you guys had a team the could help me out. Thanks so much Erin Berz

Do you have any samples with foliage?

No Im sorry I do not

The stems look like red sorrel, Rumex acetosella, but I'm not sure without seeing leaves.
